Countless Lab

Studio

Where an idea is drawn, built and argued with.

Ratatouille is the studio inside Countless Lab. Ten AI roles and one founder develop an idea into drawings, a model and a written critique, and one role is there to say no. It is a separate prototype from the Ideas demo, and the two are not yet connected.

From a drawing to a model you can edit

The studio rebuilt one of its own drawings, The Unfinished Earth, as a Rhino model of 2,771 parts with a Grasshopper file and five sliders, then rendered it in D5.

Drawing of three tall, split masses of red and pale stone rising from a terraced quarry, cut away to show rooms and streets inside, with bridges between them and an amphitheatre on the quarry floor.

Changing one slider, tower spacing from 1.00 to 1.08, rebuilt 1,971 parts, added 15 and left 800 as they were. Setting it back removed the 15 additions and restored the original. A smaller test moved a canopy’s span from 6,000 to 7,200 mm: the canopy and one support followed, and the other support and an unrelated point stayed exactly where they were.

I continue to advocate concept-stage recognition for a provisional civic monument whose common ground can be withdrawn and differently reassembled. The three states now substantiate a spatial rewrite. The native packet is more convincing about that change, but substantially less compelling as an inhabited world than the generated conjecture.

An internal study board titled Room after the turn. On the left a drawn view of an enlarged workshop room with timber benches, people at work, a retained gallery and a view of a city through tall windows. On the right a plan showing an 18 metre intact collar, a 12 metre flare and a 12 metre wider body, and a section with labelled dimensions.

None of these designs has been submitted to a competition or rated blind. The sites are invented, and the dimensions are the studio’s own, not engineered. The Ideas demo and the studio are separate prototypes: no idea has been passed from one to the other automatically. What the model did and did not reproduce is on Findings.
